Post-Publication Discussion Polic
Jurnal Hukum Islam (JHI) recognizes that scholarly communication continues beyond the publication of an article. Post-publication discussion provides an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, and readers to engage critically with published findings, interpretations, methodologies, and legal arguments.
The journal welcomes constructive, evidence-based academic discussion that contributes to the advancement of Islamic legal studies and related disciplines.
1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may address:
-
Theoretical, conceptual, or methodological strengths and limitations of a published article.
-
The interpretation of legal texts, judicial decisions, regulations, or legal doctrines.
-
The validity and interpretation of empirical findings or research evidence.
-
New developments in legislation, jurisprudence, legal practice, or scholarly literature relevant to a published article.
-
Corrections, clarifications, or concerns regarding the accuracy, originality, research integrity, or conclusions of a published work.
Contributions should demonstrate scholarly relevance, analytical rigor, and a clear connection to the article being discussed.
2. Submission of Comments and Responses
Readers who wish to comment on a published article may contact the editorial office of Jurnal Hukum Islam through the journal's official contact channels.
Submissions should include the title and DOI or URL of the article concerned, the author's name and institutional affiliation, a clear explanation of the comment, and supporting references or evidence where appropriate.
Authors of the original article may be invited to respond to substantive comments. The editorial team may also invite independent scholars to provide additional perspectives when necessary.
3. Editorial Assessment
All post-publication contributions are subject to editorial assessment before publication or dissemination through the journal's official channels.
The assessment considers relevance, scholarly merit, factual accuracy, originality, clarity, ethical compliance, and adherence to the journal's standards of academic conduct.
The journal may reject or request revisions to contributions that are unsupported, irrelevant, defamatory, abusive, misleading, or inconsistent with scholarly publication ethics.
Where appropriate, the editorial team may use external peer review to assess technically complex or contested matters.
4. Corrections and Research Integrity Concerns
Post-publication comments may identify errors or concerns that require editorial action. Depending on the nature and significance of the issue, the journal may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with its publication ethics policies.
Allegations of research misconduct will be handled separately under the journal's Allegations of Research Misconduct Policy. Comments and responses will not replace a formal investigation where one is warranted.
5. Standards of Academic Conduct
All participants in post-publication discussions must engage respectfully and professionally. Criticism should focus on the scholarly content of the work rather than the personal characteristics of its authors.
Contributors must provide accurate information, acknowledge relevant sources, disclose applicable conflicts of interest, and avoid plagiarism, harassment, personal attacks, and the deliberate misrepresentation of another researcher's position.
The journal reserves the right to moderate or decline contributions that do not meet these standards.
6. Transparency and Publication
Accepted post-publication contributions may be published on the journal's website or through another appropriate scholarly communication channel, depending on the journal's available facilities and editorial decision.
Where a comment and response are published, the journal will seek to establish clear links between the discussion and the original article to facilitate access and scholarly exchange.
The publication of a comment does not necessarily imply endorsement by the journal of the opinions expressed. Authors remain responsible for the content of their contributions.
7. Contact
Post-publication comments, responses, and requests for clarification should be directed to the editorial office of Jurnal Hukum Islam through the official contact information available on the journal website.
Jurnal Hukum Islam is committed to facilitating fair, constructive, and transparent scholarly discussion while safeguarding the integrity of the published academic record.
