Plagiarism Policy
The Editorial Board of Indonesian Journal of Islamic Elementary Education (IJIEE) enforces strict standards of publication ethics and maintains an uncompromising, zero-tolerance stance toward uncredited text duplication, data manipulation, and scholarly misconduct. Authors submitting manuscripts affirm that their work represents an authentic, original contribution that has not been previously published in any format and is not under concurrent evaluation by another journal.
Plagiarism is defined as the appropriation, verbatim reproduction, or close imitation of another author's language, empirical findings, or theoretical formulations without explicit credit, thereby misrepresenting third-party intellectual property as original scholarship. All direct quotations must be explicitly set apart from the narrative through quotation marks for short passages or block indentations for extended excerpts, accompanied by accurate bibliographic citations and page references. Reproducing substantial passages beyond fair-use conventions, as well as reusing empirical instruments, data sets, tables, charts, or illustrations from prior publications, requires written authorization from copyright holders alongside full provenance attribution.
Similarity Screening and Thresholds
Prior to formal peer review, the editorial staff verifies that manuscripts are not circulating elsewhere and screens all submissions for textual overlap using automated similarity detection software (e.g., Turnitin). The editorial evaluation proceeds according to the following criteria:
· Similarity Index Below 20% (Passed Initial Screening): The submission satisfies the standard originality requirement and advances to double-blind peer review. Minor citation or formatting adjustments may still be requested if localized referencing oversights are identified.
· Similarity Index Between 20% and 40% (Substantive Revision Required): The manuscript is remanded to the authors for thorough paraphrasing, structural rewriting, and reference remediation. Authors must resubmit the revised manuscript alongside an independent verification report demonstrating that total textual overlap has been brought below the 20% threshold.
· Similarity Index Above 40% (Immediate Rejection): Submissions showing severe uncredited duplication or pervasive copying are rejected outright by the Managing Editor. Resubmission of rejected manuscripts is strictly prohibited.
Classification of Plagiarism and Editorial Actions
Beyond automated percentage scores, the Editorial Board assesses the substantive nature of any detected duplication and imposes disciplinary actions based on severity:
· Minor Plagiarism: Isolated instances of copied sentences or short phrases without the uncredited appropriation of central data or core concepts.
Action: Authors receive a formal editorial notice requiring them to thoroughly rephrase the overlapping sections and supply complete, accurate source citations.
· Intermediate Plagiarism: Substantial uncredited borrowing of distinct paragraphs, conceptual arguments, or empirical data from external publications.
Action: The manuscript is automatically rejected from publication consideration in IJIEE.
· Severe Plagiarism: Extensive duplication of existing scholarship, including unauthorized appropriation of research methodology, fabrication or wholesale reproduction of datasets, equations, formulations, or full-manuscript replication.
Action: The submission is dismissed immediately and permanently. The Editorial Board will place all contributing authors on an institutional blacklist, barring them from submitting future manuscripts to IJIEE.
