Authorship Criteria

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contribution: Contribute substantially to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Writing and critical review: Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript for publication.
  4. Accountability: Accept responsibility for all aspects of the work and ensure that any questions concerning its accuracy or integrity are appropriately addressed.

All individuals who meet these four criteria should be listed as authors. Contributors who meet the first criterion must have the opportunity to participate in drafting or critically reviewing the manuscript and approving its final version.

Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Contributions that do not independently qualify an individual for authorship include:

  • Securing research funding.
  • Providing general supervision or administrative support.
  • Providing technical assistance, language editing, or proofreading without substantial intellectual contributions to the manuscript.

Individuals whose contributions do not meet all four authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the manuscript, with their contributions clearly described where appropriate.

Author Responsibilities

All authors share responsibility for the integrity of the published work. Each author should understand their own contribution, be able to identify the contributions of their co-authors, and have confidence in the integrity of the work conducted by others.

The authors are collectively responsible for determining authorship and agreeing on the order in which their names appear. Any request to add or remove an author after submission must be accompanied by an explanation and written agreement from all listed authors and the individual being added or removed.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with IJIEE throughout submission, peer review, and publication. This includes ensuring that the journal's submission requirements are met, authorship information is accurate, and editorial queries are addressed promptly.

The corresponding author should remain available after publication to respond to questions about the article and cooperate with requests for supporting data or additional information.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors must disclose the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted tools in preparing their manuscripts. The disclosure should explain how the tools were used and appear in the appropriate section of the manuscript. For example, AI used for writing assistance should be reported in the Acknowledgments section, while AI used for data collection, analysis, or figure generation should be described in the Methods section, where applicable.

AI tools, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, GoogleNotebook, Kimi, and other large language models, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. They cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, or originality of the work. Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including material generated or assisted by AI. They must verify the accuracy of AI-generated content, ensure proper attribution and citation, and confirm that the manuscript contains no plagiarism, including in text and images.

IJIEE expects all authors to follow these principles to ensure transparent attribution, responsible research practices, and accountability for published work.
