Ownership and Management

Erudita: Journal of English Language Teaching is institutionally affiliated with the English Language Education Study Program, under the ownership of the deanery of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (see the certificate of ownership), Universitas Islam Negeri K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, Indonesia. The journal aims to advance knowledge and research in English language teaching (ELT) by providing a scholarly platform for researchers, lecturers, teachers, students, and other practitioners to share findings and engage in academic dialogue.

The institution supports the publication and development of Erudita: Journal of English Language Teaching in accordance with its academic mission and applicable institutional policies. Nevertheless, the Editor-in-Chief retains full editorial independence in making decisions concerning the journal's scientific content, manuscript evaluation, peer-review process, and publication. Editorial decisions must be based on scholarly merit, originality, relevance, and compliance with the journal's editorial policies, without inappropriate interference from the journal owner or other parties. The Editor-in-Chief remains accountable to the journal owner and editorial board for the journal's overall management and adherence to established editorial policies. Please refer to the journal's Editorial Independence policy for further information.

The responsibilities of the journal owner align with the principles of editorial freedom and responsible journal governance outlined in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. The owner is responsible for appointing and, when necessary, dismissing editors through appropriate institutional procedures. Upon appointment, editors should receive a formal appointment document specifying their rights, duties, authority, terms of service, and mechanisms for resolving conflicts of interest or disputes. Editorial performance may be evaluated using mutually agreed-upon criteria, including readership, manuscript submission and processing times, publication quality, and other relevant journal performance indicators. Editorial appointments are formalized through the appropriate institutional decision or appointment letter.

The journal owner may dismiss an editor only for substantial and justifiable reasons, such as proven scientific misconduct, a fundamental disagreement concerning the journal's long-term editorial direction, persistently inadequate performance against previously agreed-upon criteria, or inappropriate conduct incompatible with the responsibilities and integrity of the position. Any such decision must follow fair and transparent institutional procedures and must not be used to influence or suppress legitimate editorial decisions. These provisions are intended to safeguard editorial independence, uphold academic integrity, and maintain public trust in the journal's scholarly publications.
