Post-Publication Discussion

The Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF) encourages objective, constructive, and evidence-based academic discussion of articles that have already been published. Post-publication discussion serves as an important mechanism for maintaining the quality of scholarly publications by facilitating critical assessment, addressing questions, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the academic record.

Submission of Comments

Readers may submit comments, questions, or evidence-based scholarly criticisms through the journal’s official Contact page:

https://e-journal.uingusdur.ac.id/jief/about/contact

A submission should identify the relevant article by its title and DOI or URL, clearly and specifically describe the issue being raised, and include relevant scientific evidence or references. Contributors are also required to disclose any relationships or interests that could potentially affect the objectivity of their comments. Confidentiality and the protection of individual identities must be maintained. Therefore, confidential information or information that could identify an individual must not be disclosed without a legitimate and appropriate basis.

Editorial Assessment

All submissions relating to published articles will be assessed by the editorial team according to their relevance, clarity, academic significance, supporting evidence, and compliance with publication ethics. Comments should address substantive scholarly matters, including research design, methodology, interpretation of findings, data presentation, or the validity of conclusions.

Submissions containing personal attacks, discriminatory language, promotional material, or allegations that lack adequate supporting evidence will not be considered for publication. Where additional expertise is required, the Editors may consult independent reviewers or subject specialists to support a fair and informed assessment.

Responses from Authors

Authors whose publications are the subject of substantive scholarly comments may be invited to provide a response. Responses should be professional, objective, and directly address the issues raised, with appropriate evidence or references provided where necessary.

If the authors do not respond, the Editors may proceed with evaluating the concerns independently, provided that sufficient evidence is available. Any subsequent editorial action will be determined on the basis of the available evidence and the journal’s applicable policies.

Publication of Discussion Outcomes

Following editorial assessment, JIEF may publish scholarly comments, responses from authors, editorial statements, or other relevant notices. Published materials must be clearly identified and appropriately linked to the article concerned. Comments and responses may undergo additional peer review when the Editors consider such review necessary.

The publication of a comment or scholarly critique does not automatically establish that the original article contains errors, nor does it imply that JIEF endorses every opinion expressed by the contributor. Editorial decisions will be guided by academic merit, the quality of the evidence, and the principles of publication ethics.

Concerns Requiring Further Investigation

Concerns relating to the reliability of research findings, improper attribution of ideas or data, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or potential breaches of publication ethics will be addressed in accordance with the journal’s Complaints and Appeals Policy and Publication Ethics Policy.

Where an investigation establishes that corrective action is necessary to preserve the accuracy of the scholarly record, JIEF will take appropriate measures in accordance with its Corrections, Retractions, and Withdrawal Policy. Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, such measures may include issuing a correction, publishing an editorial notice, or retracting the affected article.

Documentation and Record Keeping

The editorial team is responsible for maintaining appropriate records of the post-publication discussion process. These records may include submitted comments, author responses, expert assessments, relevant correspondence, and editorial decisions.

All records must be managed and retained in accordance with applicable confidentiality requirements, data protection principles, and the journal’s editorial procedures. Appropriate documentation helps ensure transparency, accountability, and consistency in the handling of post-publication concerns.

Through this policy, JIEF seeks to foster responsible scholarly dialogue, strengthen the quality of published research, and uphold the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scientific record.
