Authorship and Contributorship Policy

The Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance (JIEF) recognizes authorship only for individuals who have made meaningful and substantial intellectual contributions to the preparation and development of a manuscript. Being listed as an author entails both recognition for scholarly work and accountability for the publication's accuracy, originality, and academic integrity.

To qualify for authorship, individuals are expected to play a significant role in one or more aspects of the research process. These contributions may involve conceptualizing the study, establishing research objectives and questions, developing the research methodology, gathering or analyzing data, conducting field investigations or literature searches, interpreting results in the context of Islamic economics and finance, constructing theoretical or conceptual models, undertaking translation or transliteration, writing the initial manuscript, or critically reviewing and improving its intellectual content.

Every author is required to examine and approve the complete manuscript before it is submitted to the journal. Submission confirms that all authors have consented to the publication process, appropriate credit has been given to all sources, and every contributor who satisfies the authorship requirements has been properly included in the author list.

The corresponding author serves as the principal contact between the authors and the editorial office during manuscript submission, peer review, revisions, publication, and any subsequent correspondence. This author is responsible for verifying that all information concerning authorship, institutional affiliations, research funding, competing interests, research ethics, and the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) is disclosed accurately and comprehensively.

Individuals who have assisted with the research but whose contributions do not meet the requirements for authorship may be recognized in the acknowledgements section, subject to their consent. Examples of such assistance include proofreading, linguistic improvement, technical support, transcription, administrative services, facilitating access to research materials or field locations, supporting data collection, and providing general supervision.

JIEF strictly prohibits inappropriate authorship practices, including honorary, gift, guest, coercive, and ghost authorship. Suspected violations may be addressed through editorial review and may lead to manuscript rejection, post-publication corrections, or other measures deemed appropriate under the journal's editorial procedures.

All authors must reach a mutual agreement regarding the sequence of names in the manuscript before submission. Requests to include, exclude, or change the order of authors after submission must be formally communicated to the editorial office in writing and supported by the consent of all authors concerned. Following manuscript acceptance, authorship modifications will be permitted only under exceptional conditions and subject to the journal's approval.

For manuscripts involving more than one author, JIEF reserves the right to request a contribution declaration that clearly describes the responsibilities and specific contributions of each author to the research and the preparation of the manuscript.

AI applications, conversational agents, and other automated technologies are not eligible for recognition as authors or co-authors. Authors who make substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted applications during manuscript preparation must transparently report such use in accordance with the journal's Generative AI Policy and any other applicable requirements established by JIEF.
