Abstract

This study was made to find out: 1) The mathematical problem solving ability of students who get a learning approach with the problem solving approach of Polya's version? 2) What is the problem solving ability of students who do not get the Polya version of the Problem Solving approach? 3) Is the mathematical problem solving ability of students who received the Polya version of Problem Solving approach higher than students who received the non-polya version of problem solving approach?. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental) with a randomized posttest only control group design. Samples used were students of class VII D as the control class as many as 35 students and VII E as the experimental class as many as 37 students. The results of this study are that the experimental class that applies the polya version of problem solving approach gets an average value of 73 while the control class that uses the conventional approach gets an average score of 51. It can be concluded that the polya version of the problem solving approach can improve the ability students' math problem solving.
