Peer Review Process
Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform available on the official website of the journal: https://e-journal.uingusdur.ac.id/el_hisbah/about/submissions. Submissions must align with the journal’s aims and scope and adhere to the author guidelines.
Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial team conducts an initial screening to evaluate whether the manuscript:
- Fits within the journal’s scope and thematic focus.
- Complies with formatting and submission guidelines.
Manuscripts failing to meet these criteria may be desk-rejected before entering the peer review stage.
Peer Review Process (Double-Blind)
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers for evaluation through a double-blind review process, in which both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:
- Relevance and consistency between the title, abstract, introduction, methodology, results, and conclusion.
- Originality and scholarly contribution.
- Methodological soundness and depth of analysis.
- Appropriateness and credibility of references.
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editor-in-chief or editorial board will make one of the following decisions:
- Accept without revision: The manuscript is accepted as is.
- Accept with minor revisions: Minor adjustments are required.
- Accept with major revisions: Substantial modifications must be made before publication.
- Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards and is not suitable for publication.
Author Revisions
When revisions are requested, authors are expected to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ and editors’ comments. The revised manuscript must be submitted within the specified time frame, along with a response letter detailing the changes made.
Final Evaluation
After resubmission, the editorial team conducts a final evaluation to ensure all suggested revisions have been adequately addressed. In some cases, the manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further assessment.
Publication
Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue. El-Hisbah: Journal of Islamic Economic Law is published biannually, in May and November.
