Abstract

The increase in tourists after Covid-19 began to be seen in several countries, this clearly affected the economic development of tourist destination countries. Indonesia and Thailand are among the nations that display noteworthy progress in the realm of Tourism. This study is one of the contemporary discussions between academics and practitioners, namely about the standards and procedures for issuing halal fatwas on products circulating in the wider community. The aim of this research was to investigate the methods of standardization and halal certification followed in various countries that are popular tourist destinations, with a focus on their impact on the broader community, namely Indonesia and Thailand. The executor of halal food inspection in Indonesia is MUI through LPPOM-MUI, then the state mandates in its form the halal Product Assurance organizing agency (BPJPH). Meanwhile, Thailand itself has two institutions that are concerned about the Halal of a product, specifically the Institute of Halal Standards in Thailand and the Halal Science Center at Chulalongkorn University (HSC-CU). This discussion focused on standardization and halal certification procedures in Indonesia and Thailand.
