Generative AI Policy
Generative AI Policy – Velocity: Journal of Sharia Finance Banking
Authors are required to disclose the use of generative AI in scientific writing at the time of manuscript submission. The following guidelines apply exclusively to the writing process, and do not govern the use of AI tools for data analysis and interpretation as part of the research process:
- Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies may only be utilized during the writing process to enhance the readability and overall language quality of the manuscript.
- Such technologies must be employed under human supervision and control. Authors are obliged to carefully review and revise the output, as AI may produce content that appears authoritative yet may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Authors bear full and ultimate responsibility for all content within the published work.
- Authors are prohibited from listing or citing AI or AI-assisted technologies as an author or co-author on any manuscript, as authorship entails responsibilities and tasks that can only be attributed to and carried out by humans.
The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing must be disclosed through a statement appended to the manuscript upon initial submission. This statement will appear in the published work and should be placed in a dedicated section preceding the reference list. The following serves as an example:
Title of new section: Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process. Statement: During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. Following the use of this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as necessary and assume full responsibility for the content of the published article.
This requirement does not apply to the use of basic tools, such as those employed for grammar checking, spell checking, and reference verification. If there is nothing to disclose, no statement is required.
Please note: in order to safeguard authors' rights and preserve the confidentiality of their research, Velocity: Journal of Sharia Finance Banking does not currently permit the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies, such as ChatGPT or similar services, by peer reviewers or editors during the peer review and manuscript evaluation process. We are actively assessing compliant AI tools and reserve the right to revise this policy in the future.
