Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the externality of the Sragi Sugar Factory to the socio-economic conditions of the community in the Pesantren Hamlet. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with the type of field research. The data obtained in the form of primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through direct observation to the field and interviews with the community in the Pesantren Hamlet, while secondary data was obtained from various literature sources such as books, journals and so on related to research problems. The results of this study are positive externalities of the Sragi Sugar Factory in the form of increasing people's income, reducing unemployment, the existence of business opportunities around the factory area that are used by the community for food, beverage, fruit and even cafe businesses, and another positive impact that is felt is the social relationship between The community and the factory are well established, which can be seen from the enthusiasm of the community when there is a milling party event. The negative externalities of the Sragi Sugar Factory include water and air pollution, noise from the milling process, unpleasant odors, traffic jams caused by sugarcane trucks, and the social condition of the people who often protest.
