Journal Owners
Hikmatuna: Journal for Integrative Islamic Studies, the official academic journal of Postgraduate Program UIN K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid Pekalongan, is under the ownership of the deanery of program and aims to encourage and promote the field of Islamic law and is designed to facilitate and take the scientific work of researchers, lecturers, students, practitioners, and so on into dialogue. The journal contents discuss various matters related to the Islamic Law. The director of Postgraduate Program logistically supports the journal. On the other hand, the editor-in-chief is scientifically independent and cannot be pressurized or manipulated in any way regarding the scientific contents and operation of the journal. Nonetheless, the editor-in-chief has obligations toward the journal owner and editorial board.
The responsibility of owners in this journal adopts International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Owners have a responsibility to appoint and dismiss editors. Owners should provide editors at the time of their appointment with a contract that clearly states their rights and duties, authority, the general terms of their appointment, and mechanisms for resolving conflict. The editor’s performance may be assessed using mutually agreed-upon measures, including but not necessarily limited to readership, manuscript submissions and handling times, and various journal metrics. Appointments are made officially by attaching the dean's decision letter.
Owners should only dismiss editors for substantial reasons, such as scientific misconduct, disagreement with the long-term editorial direction of the journal, inadequate performance by agreed-upon performance metrics, or inappropriate behavior that is incompatible with a position of trust.
