President Jokowi has announced plans to move the country’s capital city (IKN) to East Kalimantan Province. The transfer of this IKN must be carefully planned because there are potential positive impacts and risks. The background for the transfer of IKN is that the burden of DKI Jakarta as the center of government and business center has been too high. The transfer of IKN also aims to reduce economic inequality between Java and outside Java. This journal aims to analyze the impact and risk of IKN transfer on the economy in Indonesia. The qualitative research method is a research method carried out with a descriptive type of approach. The results obtained are the positive impact and risk of moving IKN to Central Kalimantan on the Indonesian economy. The policy to move IKN was motivated by the need to develop new economic areas, reduce inter-regional inequality, and improve people’s welfare.
