Manajemen Dana Baitul Maal KSPPS BMT Bahtera dalam Mengatasi Kemiskinan Masyarakat di Kota Pekalongan

Abstract

BMT (Baitul Maal wa At-Tamwil) is often perceived by the public as an institution similar to Islamic banks, which primarily emphasize business activities. In fact, BMT is not solely oriented toward commercial operations but also serves as an Islamic financial institution with a mission to alleviate poverty. One of its key components is Baitul Maal, which functions as a medium for collecting and distributing social funds. Through this function, BMT contributes to assisting underprivileged communities and empowering them, for instance, by providing capital for new entrepreneurial ventures. Pekalongan City is widely known as a batik industrial center with a large number of batik entrepreneurs; however, there are still many individuals whose welfare remains inadequate. In this context, Baitul Maal KSPPS BMT Bahtera Pekalongan City plays a role as a social institution that manages the collection of funds such as zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf, and distributes them to eligible beneficiaries in order to improve their living standards.

This study aims to examine the management of social funds within the institution, as well as the programs implemented to enhance community welfare. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and is conducted through field research. Data are collected through interviews and observations, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The results of the analysis are then used to address the research questions.

The findings indicate that in managing social funds, Baitul Maal KSPPS BMT Bahtera Pekalongan City applies management functions, namely Takhthith (planning), Thanzim (organizing), Tawjih (implementation or mobilization), and Riqabah (control or supervision). The managed funds are then distributed to the community through various programs, including economic or empowerment programs, education, healthcare, as well as social and humanitarian activities. These programs are aimed at reducing poverty rates and improving the welfare of the community in Pekalongan City.
