Abstract

Digital transformation has brought fundamental changes across various industrial sectors, including the halal industry, which is now entering the era of Industry 4.0. This study aims to analyze the role of digital transformation in the development and strengthening of the halal industry ecosystem within the framework of Industry 4.0 in Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method through in-depth interviews with twenty informants consisting of halal business actors, regulators, and academics selected purposively. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques with the assistance of NVivo 12 software. The findings reveal that digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics play a significant role in enhancing the efficiency of the halal supply chain, improving the accuracy of halal certification, and increasing consumer trust in halal products. In addition, the study found that the integration of digital platforms within the halal ecosystem is capable of expanding market access and accelerating halal audit processes in real time. This study concludes that digital transformation is not merely an operational instrument, but rather a strategic foundation that determines the competitiveness and sustainability of the halal industry in the global era.
