Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discover the history, meaning, and symbols of Toraja’s Traditional House called Tongkonan. The mtehod that being used in collecting the data for this research is Interview with the stake holder of Toraja’s society and also Literature Riview. The result of this research is stated that the history, meaning, and symbol of Toraja’s Traditional House which is Tongkonan has a very tight correlation with Social Status anad Traditional Law that being conserved by the people of Toraja until this day.
