Gerakan Eco Masjid Melalui Sedekah Sampah Berbasis Asset- Based Community Development (ABCD): Lomba Kreativitas Sarana Dan Pengumpulan Sampah Botol plastik Di SMP N 1 Bojong

Abstract

The Student Community Service program (KKN) is a form of student service to the community aimed at applying knowledge gained during academic studies while fostering social and environmental awareness. The 65th Regular KKN (Group 18) was conducted over a 45-day period in Rejosari Village, Bojong District. One of the key initiatives implemented was the "Eco-Mosque" program utilizing a "waste-as-charity" (sedekah sampah) model to raise community awareness regarding environmental management by integrating social, economic, and environmental aspects with Islamic values. The program employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which emphasizes leveraging the community's existing potential and resources. Activities began with observation and the identification of local assets, followed by coordination, outreach on waste sorting, and the collection of waste with economic value. Waste management education was also provided to junior and elementary school students through sessions on waste classification, inorganic waste collection, and creative competitions focused on waste utilization. Implementation involved participatory observation, interviews, documentation, and discussions. The results indicate that the involvement of community members and students in waste management enhanced their understanding of and concern for environmental cleanliness. The Eco-Mosque program, through its waste-as-charity initiative, is expected to be sustainable and to strengthen the mosque's role as a hub for social, religious, and community empowerment activities.
