Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to examine the factors influencing the career interest of Sharia Accounting Graduate Students in pursuing careers in Islamic financial institutions. Background Problems: In reality, not all Sharia Accounting Graduate students are interested in working in Islamic financial institutions, even though their academic background is directly related to the field. This phenomenon indicates a gap between students' field of study and their career preferences, which may be influenced by various factors. Novelty: This study integrates various factors, including the work environment, Sharia accounting knowledge, religiosity, and labor market considerations, into a single model, thereby providing a more comprehensive understanding of students' career interests. Research Methods: This research employs a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 96 respondents via a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS IBM 26. Finding/Results: Partially, work environment, Sharia accounting knowledge, and labor market considerations do not significantly affect career interest, while religiosity has a significant effect. Simultaneously, all variables significantly influence students career interests. Conclusion: Religiosity is the most influential factor in shaping students' career interest, while other variables show no partial effect. The findings imply that strengthening religious values may increase students' interest in pursuing careers in Islamic financial institutions.
